Paper Depot has come to be known as the regions best place for DIY (Do-It-Yourself) wedding invitations and invitations for all of life's big events. While we have worked very hard to be the best at invitations that is not the whole story. We also have a very large selection of products for paper crafts. Our selection of scrap book papers and rubber stamps is larger than that of most stores that specialize in scrapbooking or rubber stamping. We have more Origami paper and wax seals than I have ever seen in one place. Check out our paper crafts, you'll be glad you did.

Japanese paper folding, origami, is as old as the Orient itself. Our origami papers come in foils, solids, brights, pastels, and printed designs. With three seperate precut sizes, some packages have all one type and others are assortment packages. Many of the packages include free patterns. We are sure to have a size and color that is just right for your project.

Our selection of precut card stocks and matching envelopes is second to none. With envelopes in nine sizes having matching precut cards with many brands, colors and finishes from which to choose you are sure to find what you like. We have papers and card stocks that accept rubber stamps, inkjet or laser printing, and are perfect to mount your photographs. We have many card stocks cut to 5 x 7 or 7 x 10 which folds in half to 5 x 7. That is the perfect size on which to mount a 4 x 6 photo with a nice border all the way around the photo. The finished card fits nicely into a matching A-7 (5 1/4 x 7 1/4) envelope. Would you rather print your photos directly on the card? Check out our Starwhite brand. It is bright white with an exceptionally smooth and printable surface.

There are multiple ways to mount a photo on a card. The simplest is to use a Tombo blue adhesive transfer roller. You simply roll the dispenser across the back of the photo and adhesive transfers from the dispenser to the photo. Just as easy are photo mounting squares. They are square pieces of adhesive with a peal off back. A more traditional method is photo corneers which come in both self adhesive and the type that must be moistened. The easiest way to use photo corners it to first put them on the photo and then place the photo on the background card. Finally there are a variety of tools that can make a slit on the background card into which the corner of the photo slips.

Most photos come in 4 x 6. They mount perfectly on a 5 x 7 card or a 7 x 10 card that has been folded in half to 5 x 7. An A-7 envelope, 5 1/4 x 7 1/4, is the perfect size to hold a 5 x 7 card. We carry celophane sleeves and clear top baxes in a variety of sizes to fit your cards. A good gift idea is to mount your photos on cards and put a dozen or so in a clear top gift box with matching envelopes. Wrap a ribbon around the box and seal it with a wax seal. To personalize the package, use photos of interest to the person to whom you intend to give them. Sneak over to your neighbor's yard and take pictures of her garden. Mount those photos on cards and give them back to her as a gift that she is sure to like.

One last thought about mounting photos; cut paper rectangles slightly larger than the photo and mount them to the back of the photo. Different colors will bring out different details in your photos.

We stock cellophane sleeves in eighteen sizes. Some have self sealing flaps, some come without flaps. Cellophane sleeves are perfect for packaging greeting cards, mounted photos, or anything else that needs to stay clean yet visible. Sizes range from 2.5 x 2.5 up to 9.25 x 12.25.

We are enthusiastic about today's wide range of stamping products and inks. We have an extensive selection of stamps, including wood mounted stamps, clear acrylic mounted stamps, and clear unmounted rubber stamps. Whether you are decorating wedding invitations, Bar or Bat Mitzvah invitations, or special celebration cards, you will find the perfect stamp for your style and occasion. If you are new to rubber stamping, we will help you create a starter kit with a few well chosen stamps, appropriate ink for your paper and supplies and suggestions for cleaning and storing your rubber stamps.

INK POINTERS: Paper Depot carries three basic formulas. The first and easiest to use is a water based dye. This is the type of ink with which most of us are familiar. It dries fast on most surfaces and the rubber stamp can be cleaned with water. Don't color over this type of ink with water based markers because they will smear the ink. The second ink is solvent based and it dries fast on most surfaces. It requires a solvent to clean the rubber stamp. You can color over this with water based markers because it is waterproof. Water based and solvent based inks are not very opaque and the color of the item on which you are stamping may show through enough to influence the final color. The third type is glycerine based pigmented ink. These inks dry slowly and not at all on some surfaces. These colors are very heavy and opaque. Because this ink dries slowly it can be used as a base for heat embossing. These inks can be washed off the stamp with plain water. Don't color over them with water based markers, they will smear.

Wax seals make an elegant addition to any invitation. They can be used to seal the outside of an envelope, as a seal to a pocket folder, or as an embellishment on an invitation. Wax is made from two basic ingredients either used alone or mixed together. Traditional seals are made from a brittle wax candle that is lit and dripped in place. A metal or rubber seal is pushed into the wax while it is still liquid. The image from the seal transfers to the wax which hardens. The finished seal opens by being bent until it snaps. These seals are beautiful when done skillfully. They can be sooty when melting and they do not travel well through the US Mail. Because they are brittle they usually break in the mail.

A newer method is to use a hot glue gun with sticks made from colored glue. It is cheap (4-6 cents per seal), clean, easy to use, but looks like traditional wax and does not break in the mail. The glue gun should be a low temperature model. Since the glue will stick to the metal embosser it is necessary to use a releasing agent. We recommend Top Boss. Squirt the hot colored glue in place with a low temperature glue gun, press the seal into the Top Boss, then press it into the hot glue while it is still liquid. Let it set until the glue hardens. The image from the seal transfers to the glue which hardens. The glue seal opens by tearing it off. Because the glue seal will not break it will go through the US Mail.

There are hybrids mixing both wax and glue that come as a candle or glue gun version. These are more flexible than traditional wax and have softer colors than glue sticks. One of our staff will be happy to show these to you and explain the differences.

If you are unsure of your skill level, make your glue seals on wax paper. Peal them off and glue them to your invitation. Use only the seals that turn out well. Paper Depot designers will be glad to show you how to make a glue seal. Stop in for a demonstration next time your are in the area.

A word about mailing-If the seal is on the outside of your envelope there will be a postal surcharge for mailing. If your seal is on the inside of the invitation envelope and your envelope exceeds 1/4 inch in thickness there will also be a postal surcharge. See the USPS website or stop by your local post office for information.

Our ribbon selection is bigger than that of most big box stores. We only stock the top brands but because of our high volume our prices are comparable to the prices of the lesser brands. Sold by the large spool or by the yard, our ribbon styles include double face satin, silk, sheer, mesh, woven, grosgrain, suede, taffeta, velveteen, and lace. While we have a large selction of whites we also have every color in the rainbow. Our cords include both natural and artificial raffia in many colors, colored strings, and various styles and colors of cord. Do you need help tying ribbon bows or knots? Ask to see our knot and bow samples. We will teach you how to tie them. Most of our customers use our ribbons in wedding invitations but my granddaughters love when I give them ribbons for their hair.
