Handmade & Exotic Papers

These papers are very good as accent pieces. Choose from silk, unryu, mulberry, rice, lokta, washi, leather embossed, wood grain, sparkle, Chiyogami, etc; we have a variety of fibers. Some are smooth and solid, others have textures, organic inclusions, patterns, silk strands, all in a variety of weights from tissues to card stocks. We stock hundreds of types in a full range of colors. Most come precut to 8 ½ x 11 and some can even be printed in your home printer.

Letter Press Papers

LETTER PRESS printing is a traditional method of applying ink to paper. The printer may set lead type, or she may carve a wooden block with the image to be printed. The printing plate could be laser cut from a variety of rubber or plastic materials as well. The common factor is that the plate is a three dimensional object that is inked and pushed into the paper under pressure. The result is an inked image that is recessed into the paper.

Our fine selection of traditional papers and card stocks for letter press printing includes Crane's Lettra, Neenah's Teton and Sundance, Mohawk Superfine, Speckletone, Stardream and many others. Our stock includes various shades of white and colors in both text and cover in sizes ranging from 5" x 7" up to 28" x 40". All sheets come pre cut to 8.5 x 11 in both text and cover. Many come cut to smaller sizes to fit specific envelopes. Our envelope sizes range from #4 bar (3 5/8 x 5 1/8) up to A-10 (6 x 9 1/2), and #10 (4 1/8 x 9 1/2) with flaps on either the long or short side. Selection varies by brand. While these are our most commonly used papers for letter press printing, many of our handmade and exotic papers can be letter pressed. Stop in to see our many choices. Shimmer Paper

Stocked in more than forty colors, Stardream, Pearlized Esse, and Curious Metallics are coated with mica for a shimmery surface that is printable in many ink jet and laser printers. Of course you will have to test them in your printer. We carry these in  sizes up to 28 x 40 sheets in text and cover, 8.5 x 11 sheets in text and cover, and seven sizes of envelopes. Colors range from bright whites to soft naturals to hot pinks with many colors in between. Shimmers are perfect papers on which to use our free die cutting machines to make pocket invitations.

Grocery Bag Paper

Paper Depot, Inc recycles approximately ten tons of waste paper per year. Our waste is used to make unbleached grocery bag paper. To bring things full circle our Green Grocer Brown Bag line of papers and envelopes is made from grocery bag paper. We stock the paper in 8.5 x 11-65 and 26 x 40-65 medium weight. Our in stock envelope sizes range from #4 bar (3 5/8 x 5 1/8) up to A-9 (5 3/4 x 8 3/4), and #10 (4 1/8 x 9 1/2) with flaps on either the long or short side. Of course the line is 100% recycled.

Printed Papers

No paper store can be complete without a large selection of scrapbook and printed papers. We have thousands from which to choose. Scrapbook papers come in 12 x 12 in one or two sided designs. More exotic papers come in 8 1/2 x 11. Many are hand silk screened and trimmed with gold leaf. Our Asian designs are especially popular. Printed papers can be used to make scrapbooks, for book binding, or for embellishing a handmade DIY invitation.

Scrapbooking

We have more scrapbook papers than many scrapbook stores! Our 12' x 12" come in one or two sided in multiple patterns and textures. Of course they are acid and lignin free. We are big on Vintage designs and brands like Tim Holtz and Graphic 45.

Precut Cards & Envelopes

We stock many lines of papers and card stocks that have precut cards to fit matching envelopes. They come in many  standard sizes.

Envelopes range from #4 bar (3 5/8 x 5 1/8) up tp A-10 (6 x 9 1/2), #10 (std letter), and 10 x 13.

Did you know that a 7 x 10 card folds to fit a 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 (A-7) envelope?

This is a perfect size to mount 4 x 6 photos. When folded in half to fit the envelope, the 7 x 10 card is 5 x 7. When a 4 x 6 photo is mounted on the folded card it leaves a perfect half inch border around the photo.

Square envelopes are stocked in many sizes in many different paper brands.

Recycled

We have a large selection of papers and matching envelopes with 100% recycled content. These papers are also made without bleach.

Origami Papers

Japanese paper folding, origami, is as old as the Orient itself. Our origami papers come in foils, solids, brights, pastels, and printed designs. With three seperate precut sizes, some packages have all one type and others are assortment packages. Many of the packages include free patterns. We are sure to have a size and color that is just right for your project.

Vellum & Glassine

The word vellum comes from the ancient French word velin. Velin was an animal skin that had been scraped, stretched, washed, and dried to prepare a surface upon which one could write before there was paper. The word has come down through the centuries and today is commonly used to describe a piece of paper made from wood pulp with a translucent or see through quality. It is sometimes called tracing paper. Vellum papers come in many colors and often have inclusions such as fibers, designs, and printed images. They are often used as overlays in invitations and add a touch of elegance to a finished piece. We stock more than 120 different types of vellum papers and 8 sizes of vellum envelopes. Glassine paper feels like it has been coated with a hard wax surface. We stock glassine envelopes in 8 sizes.
