What is die cutting?

Die cutting is a method of paper cutting in which a flexible blade is attached to a flat piece of wood or acrylic. The blade is preformed to a desired shape and is able to cut angles, curves, slits, holes, and press in creases for folding. A piece of paper is placed over the top of the blade and the whole thing is fed into a press which pushes the paper against the blade. The paper is cut and creased to the shape of the blade. Die cutting replaces free hand cutting with a scissor or an Exacto knife and cutting board. It is faster, easier, and requires no special skills. At Paper Depot we will set up our machine for you to use. All that you have to do is put the paper in and turn the crank. It really is as simple as that.
